Speaker

Terence Gerchberg

Terence Gerchberg serves as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Back on My Feet (BoMF), bringing deep expertise in finance, development, and relationship-building to advance the organization’s mission of combatting homelessness through running, community, and employment resources. Terence is a results-driven leader committed to fostering inclusivity and expanding opportunities for individuals facing homelessness, guided by his north star: “service before self.”

Terence’s connection to Back on My Feet spans more than a decade. He successfully led the New York City Chapter as Executive Director from 2013 to 2019, strengthening revenue, deepening community relationships, and helping members transition from homelessness to employment and independence. He then served nationally as Vice President of Runner Engagement. Before returning to BoMF as CDO, Terence led Steve’s Camp as CEO from 2020 to 2025, further expanding his dedication to transformative, community-centered social impact work.

Before shifting into the nonprofit sector, Terence’s career began in accounting and finance, followed by several years as an Options Trader on Wall Street, and later in New York City real estate. These roles sharpened his business acumen and strategic mindset, but it was through nonprofit leadership that he found his true purpose in leveraging his financial and operational expertise to create meaningful change.

A native New Yorker born and raised in Manhattan, Terence is a proud graduate of New York University and resides in New York City with his wife, three children, and their dog. An avid endurance athlete, he has completed over 50 marathons and ultramarathons, including 24 consecutive New York City Marathons with a personal best of 2:57. Terence believes deeply in resilience, discipline, and community—the values that shape his leadership and his life. “I’ve seen firsthand how movement, community, and opportunity can transform a person’s life. Back on My Feet is a pathway to stability, confidence, and self-sufficiency. I’m honored to help lead an organization that empowers people to reclaim their futures, just as running helped me reclaim my own.”
