The American Trail Running Association (ATRA) was formed in mid-1996 as a Colorado not for profit corporation to serve the mountain, ultra & trail (MUT) running community. Our mission is to represent and promote mountain, ultra & trail running. We offer individual, club, race and corporate memberships. One of our primary benefits is our quarterly newsletter, Trail Times. Our newsletter includes a national events calendar, thoughtful articles, and timely information about our sport.

The Conservation Alliance’s mission is to engage businesses to fund and partner with organizations to protect wild places for their habitat and recreation values.

empowerun’s hope is to be inspired by, engage with, and seek to build our industry together with the unique point of view of the female leader. With a concentrated group of female leaders in the run specialty space, this year’s empowerun will focus on growing ourselves, our teams, our businesses, and our networks.

Leave No Trace (LNT) accomplishes its mission by providing innovative education, skills, research and science to help people care for the outdoors. By working with the public and those managing public lands, LNT focuses on educating people—instead of costly restoration programs or access restrictions—as the most effective and least resource-intensive solution to land protection.

The Low Impact Alliance (LIA) promotes transparency and environmental responsibility within the running industry by educating, advocating, and inspiring action. A global collective of retailers, athletes, and brands, the LIA exists to call people in, not call people out, while cheering on every move towards environmental responsibility and providing a playbook for being a sustainability leader.

The National Shoe Retailers Association (NSRA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping independent shoe store owners throughout the United States and Canada improve business performance. 

Native Women Running‘s mission is to build and nurture a community that features and encourages Native women runners on and off the reservation. We strive to increase visibility in the running world nationwide and worldwide for historically excluded runners.

The Pedorthic Footcare Association (PFA) is the only not-for-profit professional association which represents the interests of pedorthic professionals and supports the Pedorthic profession at large. The PFA has been a thought leader in the provision of therapeutic shoes, shoe modifications for therapeutic purposes, partial foot prostheses, foot orthoses and lower extremity modalities for the past 60 years.

The Queer Running Society (QRS) aims to elevate the queer experience within the running industry. They strive toward this by connecting queer running communities, advocating for queer representation in leadership roles and events, and compiling valuable queer content and resources. Additionally, QRS creates safe spaces for the queer community by developing certifications for events and conferences, while also conducting surveys and research. 

The Running Industry Association (RIA) is a non-profit organization that supports the brick and mortar running retail channel throughout the United States and Canada. Our members are independently owned stores, the brands that sell within the channel, and the companies that provide services and support to the channel. The RIA’s sole purpose is to drive the running industry forward. We do this by helping members maintain healthy, profitable businesses through financial benefits, innovative commerce tools, advocacy, strategic partnerships, and peer support.

The Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC) is a non-profit organization uniting the running industry to improve the inclusion, visibility, and access for Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.
