Cal Calamia (they/he) is an athlete, poet, educator, and inclusivity activist. In 2022, Cal founded non-binary+ run club and became the first non-binary winner of San Francisco’s Bay to Breakers and the San Francisco Marathon. They finished second in the 2022 Chicago Marathon and the 2023 Boston Marathon. In addition to their athletic feats, Cal is a pioneer for gender inclusivity in road races, having worked with organizers around the globe to roll out non-binary categories. They recently won their battle for an exemption from USADA, setting the precedent for more inclusive policies for future trans runners. They are passionate about increasing trans visibility and community.
