Shoe retailers take a variety of routes to entering the footwear business. Some are “born into it” and inherit a family business, while others come upon it by happenstance. Peter Mohr had already owned and sold a cleaning franchise and a bathroom renovation business before he became a business broker. In 2010 he pitched a shoe store in Fergus, Ontario to a client where the owners were retiring, and told him what a great business opportunity it was. When the client wasn’t interested, Mohr asked himself, “Why don’t we buy it. He has since expanded the store.

Since 2010, Pete Mohr has been the owner of Shoetopia in Ontario, Canada. Shoetopia consists of two small-town, open-stock stores focusing on comfort-casual footwear to help our customers “Look Great and Feel Fantastic”.

Pete also runs a coaching business and podcast called Simplifying Entrepreneurship which helps business owners through the constant change and challenges of owning and operating their business. Mohr helps entrepreneurs transform their frustrations into freedoms by using a variety of frameworks that help them cut through the chaos and over-whelm of running a business. He’s refined his tips, tools, and techniques within his own businesses over the past 29 years and loves sharing them so others can live the life they deserve as business leaders. Pete has been active in the NSRA and joined the Board of Directors of the NSRA in 2021. Over the past year he has coached NSRA shoe owners as well as the NextGen class. He is also Kolbe Certified
