Sarah is a native Texan, and has been a resident of DC since 2017. A graduate of Texas State University, Sarah received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing in 2012. After graduating, Sarah began working in marketing, events and partnerships in the world of real estate, and in 2017 transitioned to fitness and wellness marketing for VIDA Fitness, a high-end chain of boutique gyms, spas and studios in the DMV. While working for VIDA, Sarah partnered with FITDC on awareness campaigns and events that expanded access to health and fitness services to DC residents across all Wards. In 2021 she became a member of the Communications Team at the DC Department of Parks and Recreation as A Public Affairs Specialist and as the Marketing and Events Manager for FITDC, where she was able to bring her knowledge of high-level fitness and event planning to the government Mayor Muriel Bowser’s FITDC initiative.
Since 2021 she has expanded the FITDC initiative by creating a series of new featured events, quadrupled their online social media following, created and executed the FITDC Ambassador program, professionalized their marketing plans, and created strong partnerships with small local businesses like Pacers Running to expand their reach and provide more free offerings to DC Residents. The initiative is now known for its year-long calendar of fitness events that evoke city pride and unites residents of all fitness levels to strive to live a healthier life.
