Sergio Avila is a son, husband, brother and uncle; a wildlife biologist and recovering conservationist; an immigrant, and a trail runner living in ancestral Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui Lands since 2004. He works with the Sierra Club, and is a Board member with the Running Industry Diversity Coalition and ReNew Earth Running where he advocates for diversity, equity and inclusion in running, and for meaningful relationships with the Land and with each other.
