I’ve been an avid AI enthusiast for several years and am the Small Business Thought Leader on the AI Insiders channel on Discord.
More importantly, I’ve been an owner/operator in this channel for 18-years. And I still write store schedules, still manage and order footwear and still work on the floor nearly every day. This makes me well qualified to understand how technology like Generative AI is realistically relevant to our channel today.
During my time at Big Peach corporate (where I was one of two equal partners), we built the organization from one store to seven, building a strong infrastructure and leadership team along the way. I’ve done everything from product management to finance, marketing, human resources and, of course, spending lots of time with various teams working on the floor. I also developed the entire video training curriculum for the organization.
Currently, I’ve moved out of corporate and am now operating as a franchisee with two stores. My affinity for being part of a small team, and being deeply involved in the daily details and community interaction have made this a logical step as Big Peach continues to grow into a regional retailer.
Kyle Duford
Kyle is the President and Executive Creative Director of The Brand Leader®, specializing in crafting outstanding advertising, branding, and design for global brands looking to own winnable market share. A former magazine editor, he spent much of his career focused on e-commerce in the fashion, outdoor, and sports industries. Kyle’s unique blend of advertising, branding and digital expertise allows him to create and lead some of the foremost brands through his work at “TBL.”
As a thought leader focusing on business leadership, Duford grew the agency from six people to more than 40 in just three years, winning seven Best Places to Work awards in the process. He prides himself on growing people first and building high-performing teams based on trust and vulnerability. Drawing on his personal and professional experience, he facilitates meaningful conversations on building teams, brands, personal faith, and men’s mental health — especially at work.
His most recent book, “The Brand Book: A Branding Primer” is a go-to for all-things branding. He had formerly written his memoir, “Twice Found: Getting a Second Chance at Life, Love, and Understanding God,” in 2021, about his life-long struggle to find God while simultaneously searching for the love of his life after not seeing her for more than 20 years.
Kyle is obsessed with all-things online and has previously (and successfully) grown online sales for Dr. Martens, Speck Products, KEEN Footwear, XTERRA Wetsuits, and more, getting the notice of Entrepreneur magazine, which once said, “[He has] made a career of growing online sales.”
You can often find Kyle running with his wife Jerushah on the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville or having tacos together as a family with any combination of their six children.
