The Running Event 2025 Opens Registration for San Antonio Debut

North America’s Premier Run Specialty Event Expands in a New City, Welcoming the Industry to Connect, Learn, and Grow

PORTLAND, Maine (August 5, 2025) The Running Event (TRE), North America’s premier run specialty retail conference and trade show, opens registration for this year’s event, which will take place December 2-4 at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. The annual gathering brings together the brightest minds, latest trends, and most impactful conversations in the run specialty industry. TRE 2025 begins a new chapter as the event moves from Austin to San Antonio, offering attendees, exhibitors, and media access to an expanded and upgraded convention center, a thriving local running scene, and the opportunity to explore iconic destinations like The Alamo, the historic San Antonio River Walk, and world-class restaurants and hotels, all within walking distance of TRE. Based on early projections from Visit San Antonio, TRE 2025 is expected to deliver a strong economic boost to the city, supporting more than 1,000 jobs and generating millions in business sales across the region. With thousands of attendees anticipated, the event will also create a meaningful impact on local lodging, dining, and tourism-related industries.

The 2025 show floor is shaping up to be the largest in event history, with 327 exhibitors already confirmed and a current footprint of more than 81,000 square feeta reflection of the vitality of the run and outdoor industry. Attendees can expect to meet with leading and emerging brands spanning a range of categories, including footwear, apparel, gear, nutrition, recovery, tech, and more.

TRE 2025 Highlights:
  • Education Program: Guided by the 2025 theme “Better Together: Uniting the Running Industry,” this year’s educational content will deliver actionable insights across key focus areas, including leadership, consumer trends, digital advancements, and community building. Sessions will explore topics like buying strategies, inventory management, hiring and training, and the evolving customer journey.
  • Exhibit Hall: The trade show floor will showcase a mix of market-leading and emerging specialty brands spanning many categories, including HOKA, Lululemon, GU Energy Labs, Satisfy, OS1st, On, and Brooks. Based on feedback, exhibit hall hours have been extended in 2025 to allow for more discovery, connection, and conversation.
  • Switchback at TRE: Now in its fourth year, Switchback at TRE is an outdoor-focused expansion of The Running Event, bringing together outdoor brands and retailers for connection and learning.  There are currently 55 Switchback at TRE exhibitors, including Patagonia, Outdoor Research, Black Diamond Equipment, LOWA Boots, and Teva. Switchback is held each fall in conjunction with The Running Event and each spring as a standalone event.
  • Networking Opportunities: On and off-site events, including the Opening Party, Riverwalk Run + Cleanup, Indie 5K, and partner-hosted gatherings, will foster meaningful connections and strengthen community across all segments of the industry.
  • Industry Awards Dinner: The 2025 Industry Awards Dinner will recognize the 2025 Best Running Stores and reveal the Store of the Year. The evening will also feature awards presented by the following brands and organizations: Altra, Balega, Brooks, New Balance, On, the Running Industry Diversity Coalition, and Saucony.
