The Running Event celebrates the 15th year recognizing the passion and deep importance of run specialty stores in the US

PORTLAND, Maine (July 11, 2024) – The Running Event (TRE), the leading specialty retail conference and trade show in North America, proudly announces the 2024 winners of its 15th Annual Best Running Stores awards program. These outstanding retailers will be celebrated November 21 at the 2024 Industry Awards Dinner during The Running Event in Austin, TX.

“Once again, the Best Running Stores awards program has reinforced the impact retailers make on their local communities and the industry as a whole,” said TRE Event Director Christina Henderson. “These stores are managed by teams of people who care deeply about each other and their customers. This care and dedication creates ripple effects throughout communities across the country, not to mention all corners of the running industry.”

After nominations opened in February, The Running Event team received more than 15,000 nominations—representing nearly 270 unique retailers across the US—from customers, brands, and industry professionals. An extensive evaluation process considered stores’ community engagement, employee benefits, mentorship and career opportunities, sustainability and inclusivity efforts, and innovation. 100 stores were then visited by a secret shopper who assessed the in-store customer experience.

Each winning store will receive two complimentary passes to The Running Event, including hotel accommodations. The reception will be open to all event attendees and exhibitors for an additional fee.

“The annual Industry Awards Dinner is something we all look forward to at the end of TRE,” said Henderson. “This year’s celebration will again recognize the 2024 Best Running Stores as well as announce the Store of the Year—and we can’t wait to celebrate in Austin!”
