Lace Up, Show Up: How Running Rebuilds Lives

Dec 02 2026

2:00 PM - 2:30 PM CST

Training Camp Theater

Presented by Back on My Feet

This panel brings together three voices from different points in the same story: a nine-time New York City Marathon finisher and Back on My Feet (BoMF) alumnus who rebuilt his life one 5:30am run at a time; a BoMF volunteer and leader who began his career on Wall Street before moving to the organization; and a representative from a run specialty brand that has put its resources behind the same mission.

Together, they’ll discuss what actually happens when someone experiencing homelessness shows up to run for the first time, and what it takes, daily and unglamorously, to keep showing up after that. It’s a conversation about earning trust one day at a time, the discipline of consistency, and how stores, group runs, and brand partnerships help create the conditions for someone to turn their life around.

For attendees in the run specialty industry, it’s a reminder that what happens on the retail floor and at the weekly group run is rarely just about product or performance. It’s about belonging. This conversation will challenge you to consider what your own store, brand, or community could still do – and how much more is possible.
